Magic Party Survival Guide

Make sure you enjoy the party. Your Child is only this age once. childrens_birthday_party_cake_with_candles
If you definately want Mike. Book Mike 1st.   There are plenty of halls but only one Mike. Be prepared to be flexible with the date and time.

Book early to avoid disapointment and the panic of late rushing. You can't be to early but you can be to late.
Consider do you want the parents at the party. Well it does depend on the type of party you are having. Some Helpers are fine, but If lots of parents stay it can lead to a whole host of additional problems, and extra work for you:-

Magic_WordYou need to chose your venue carefully, you want one that's not too big, and where there is good parking and access, with few steps.

Consider - Are you going to do party bags

Keep the food simple, If you want to do the old proper party table just try not to go overboard and weigh it down with a ton of party food, Children often don't eat much at parties, and I can guarantee you'll be taking 80% of it home at the end and Mum and Dad will be eating it for lunch for days. Don't forget a ligher for the Birthday Cake.

Balloons prominently placed outside the venue and if necessary at the end of the road, will help both Mike and all the guests find the party.

If you've been to a party with your child and seen a certain child run amok and spoil the event, or your child talks about a child in their class who's always causing trouble it may be best not to invite them to your party.
You are paying good money to ensure your child has the best party ever and if you invite this child they will spoil the party for your child and their other friends

Party_TimeIf you let the birthday child open their presents before the party, they may decide that a certain present is much more interesting than the party.  This is especially bad with boys, to avoid this and to help keep track of who gives what, and to avoid bits getting lost have a big bag or box handy to put the all the presents in. They can then be opened safely at home after the party.

Please ensure that responsible adults are always in the room, supervising the children.

It is normally better not to distribute, toys, squeakers, whistles, Party Poppers or Balloons etc, before or during the party, It only takes one or two noisy restless characters to spoil the enjoyment of the majority, Save them for the party bags or take them away from the kids just before the entertainer starts.

You are welcome to take photo's, and there are numerous photo opportunities, after all, the stars of the show are the children, especially the birthday child. Mike only asks that while you're taking your snaps you don't distract the children.
